About the author...
Julie Dart
Julie Dart studied child development at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and graduated in 1991 with a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development. Julie was a pre-school teacher and director for
10 years, and adored working with children and helping them to have high self-esteem. Now that
her two children are older, Julie is accomplishing this goal by writing inspirational children's books.
About five years ago I realized I wanted to connect with my passion of passions and write children's
books.
In 1997, I was pregnant with my son John and riding BART into San Francisco from Fremont. I
remembered how I was bullied in middle school and how awful it felt, so I wanted to find a way
to help children get through something like that. While riding BART I had the idea for Ellie.
In 2013 I decided to self publish this book, so I finish the story of Ellie. I was a little afraid
to begin but then my friend Julie and her beautiful daughter Sophia Claire, whom I have named my official
“executive assistant,” sent some sketches after reading my manuscript. That was the push I needed! Ellie and her friends came to life.
All my life I have wanted to help inspire people to believe in themselves. This book is one of my
dreams come true: for this story to uplift someone and let them know that they can accomplish anything they want to.
I hope you too, will feel that there isn't anything you can't do.
I believe in dreams and I believe in you.
